Follow a whole plant based diet that is low oil, but preferably no oil. Make your own food instead of buying boxed food. For example oatmeal and cream of wheat instead of boxed cereals.

Check this technique for cooking brown rice, this come from Robin Koda of Koda Farms http://www.kodafarms.com/ 1 cup of washed Brown Rice to 8 cups of filtered water, bring the water to a full rolling boil, put rice in the pot, being careful not to splash the hot water, bring to a fast simmer uncovered for 25 minutes, drain in a colander or large sieve, return to the pot taken from, remove from the burn that was used to heat the boiling water, covered for 15 minutes. then fluff with a fork. Whalla perfect fully brown rice every time.
