Beer Bread

This bread is really easy to make, requires no yeast or rising, and is a hearty side on a cold day.  The only requirement to make this is that you are over 21.

To really enhance this bread, which I like to do, you can add the following mix of fresh or dried spices to the dough before baking:

  •  1 Teaspoon of Basil
  • 1 Teaspoon of Oregano
  • 1 Teaspoon of Thyme
  • 1 Teaspoon of Garlic Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Black Pepper


  • 3 Cups of Flour
  • 4 1/2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons of Sugar
  • 12 Ounces of Beer
  • 1/4 Cup Melted Non-dairy Margarine


Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375.

Step 2

Sift together all the dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. (Add the spices at this point too, if you choose to include them)

Step 3

Add the beer and mix until well blended. The dough will be very thick and lumpy.

Step 4

Spread the dough into a 9x5 greased baking pan and pour the melted margarine over the top.

Step 5

Bake for 45 minutes until the top of the loaf is golden brown and a knife comes out clean.
