I started Plant-Based on a Budget in 2012 to show that eating more plants can be affordable, simple, and delicious. Here’s how the recipes on this site come together, and where technology does and doesn’t fit in.
How My Recipes Are Created
I develop the recipes on Plant-Based on a Budget myself. My ideas come from what’s on sale at the grocery store, what my community asks for, and what’s growing in my garden, and I make each one in my own kitchen until it’s ready to share with you.
In the first few years of the site, a small group of contributors also shared recipes here. Their names are credited on the recipes they created. For a short time while I was on my book tour, my longtime photographer, Alfonso Revilla, also contributed recipes to Plant-Based on a Budget.
About the Photos
The photos on my recipes show the real dishes, cooked and photographed. My recipes are photographed by Alfonso, and I never use AI-generated images to show what a finished recipe looks like.
My Approach to AI
The cooking, tasting, recipe decisions, and personal stories on this site will always come from me. I may use AI tools to help with other parts of running a website, such as:
- Finding the questions readers are searching for
- Reviewing website traffic and search data
- Updating older posts and linking related recipes together
- Proofreading
- Business and technical tasks
I read and approve everything before it goes live on this site.
What You Can Count On
- I only use AI to help with administrative work, like the tasks listed above.
- When I recommend a product, it’s because I use it and like it. Affiliate links are always disclosed.
Using My Content
My recipes, photos, and writing may not be used to train AI tools without my permission. You can read more in my Terms and Conditions and my Photo and Recipe Use Policy.
This policy may change as tools change.
