Cinnamon Orange Quinoa

Are you ready for the best breakfast ever?! I came up with this concept inspired by a dish created by the lovely Mary from NomYourself. It’s simple, elegant and bold flavors are sure to please even the pickiest of palates!

  • 1 cup Quinoa
  • 2 1/2 cups Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 2 tbsp Orange Juice
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Orange Zest
  • 3/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg


Step 1

Combine quinoa, almond milk & orange juice over a medium heat, stirring in all the seasonings and mixing till full incorporated.

Step 2

Let it come to a light boil and then up the heat to medium high till the boil becomes aggressive. Let it bubble for a minute, then drop the heat to simmer for about 20-30 minutes or until tender, placing a lid on top.

Step 3

Serve hot with fresh orange zest, nutmeg and dried cherries!

    RINSE THE QUINOA FIRST!!!!! I use a strainer under cold water, just for a little bit, it takes the bitter out.

    This looks delish!! I’m definitely going to try it. I will leave out the sugar though and use 2 dates instead – way more nutrients and it’s a whole food. These would be perfect to serve for Thanksgiving breakfast.

    This looks very delicious! I simply suggest to use amount of liquid to quinoa 1:1 (just soak quinoa for 15 min, then rinse well before you cook) this way you’ll have a fluffier result 🙂

    This may be a stupid question, but did you just put that on top of the orange or find some interesting way to take the orange out of the peel and leave the shape?
