From the author: Sometimes you need a super quick, easy, inexpensive snack or dessert, and this one does the trick … all for just a couple of bucks. Make these apple granola snacks and eat them up, or put them in the fridge for later.

I prefer tart apples, so I used Granny Smiths, but feel free to use whatever you enjoy. I would recommend keeping them in the refrigerator before using.

For granola, pick something that doesn’t have a lot of extras (ie. fruit, nuts, etc) – I used “(Not So) Vanilla Granola” – or you can also use chopped nuts. Finally, if you’re not in the mood for chocolate, you can use peanut butter. Be creative!

This quick and nutritious snack is a game-changer. A fun twist on the classic sliced apple snack and a great option for a healthy after lunch treat. You can use any fruit you’d like and can come up with all sorts of amazing creations.

A Perfect Treat for The Little Ones

Kids love snacking and this is a perfect example of a quick, healthy and filling snack for those little munchers. Just slice your apple, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave and top it with granola or any other topping you have on hand.

It’s also a great recipe to cook with the kids. They can easily participate while preparing it, and they will definitely enjoy pouring the melted chocolate and, most likely, lick their fingers. Add a few bowls with different apple toppings and let them play with their food!

Different Toppings

This recipe calls for granola as a topping but you have many other healthy plant-based options to choose from. You could use puffed rice, sesame seeds, coconut flakes or crushed walnut pieces. The most important feature of the topping should be its crunch. So take a pick and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, sliced
  • 1/2 cup of granola
  • 1/2 cup of semi-sweet (non-dairy) chocolate chips

Method

Step 1

Slice the apples into spears.

Step 2

Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave in 45-second increments. If it’s not melted, stir and try again. Keep a close eye to not burn the chocolate. It's easy to do!

Step 3

Dip the top of the slices lightly into the chocolate and then immediately dip it in the granola. Put on a plate and enjoy, or throw in the refrigerator to chill.
