Tomatillo Salsa

Everyday is a party when salsa is involved. I'm a huge baby and can't handle too much spiciness so feel free to add some hotter chilies. I did all my shopping at Superior Market and it was all under $5 and I had a few tomatillos and a lime left over. I cooked all the stuff in a sauce pan but you could also roast them in the oven or over the fire if you have a gas stove.  This is perfect for Cinco de March. Oh wait...

Tomatillo Salsa

If you're up for it, try roasting the tomatillos over a flame or in the oven to boost this salsa even more.

Ingredients
  

  • 5 tomatillio
  • 3 roma tomatoes
  • 1 jalapenos
  • 1 anaheim chili
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • ½ of a red onion
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • ¼ cup of cilantro
  • juice from 1 small lime

Instructions
 

  • roughly chop your tomatillios, tomatoes, garlic, chillies, jalapeno, and onion
  • saute them in a pan or pot with about ¾ cup water and salt and cumin
  • after about 15 minutes(or when it's all cooked down and everything is soft) turn off the heat and add the cilantro and lime juice. Salt to taste
  • Blend and chow down! Chips and salsa, in burritos, on nachos, in a kiddie pool with a straw... just enjoy!

Notes
