From the author, Terrence Paschal: It’s hot outside and peppers should be popping up at your local farmers’ market. I’m always looking for ways to mix hot peppers into my food, like these Spicy Red Bean Burger. They're great sources of antioxidants and help reduce inflammation. They also taste great! I use jalapeños in this recipe, but you can replace them with any hot pepper you like. If you want more heat, try using a habanero. If you want less heat, try an Anaheim pepper.
If you do not have a food processor, you can mash the beans with a fork. It takes a little longer, but it works. Give these burgers a try at your next BBQ. If you grill them, make sure you place them away from direct heat so they do not stick.
From Plant-Based on a Budget: This Spicy Red Bean Burger is the perfect alternative to your favorite takeout burger, super spicy and packed with flavor! The good news is, it is much healthier and nutritious, plus so much more affordable. For around the same price of one or two takeout burgers, you can make 4 of these and happily feed a delicious home cooked meal to your family.
Making homemade burgers can be somewhat of a messy affair, that is why we are all for making them now to enjoy them later. Whenever you have some extra time or on your meal prepping day (if you have one), take the plunge and venture into making a double (or triple) batch of these Spicy Red Bean Burgers. You can store them for one or two days in your refrigerator or freeze them for whenever the homemade burger cravings strike.
