Why You’ll Love Vegan Mixed Berry Smoothie Recipe

This vegan berry smoothie is vibrant, refreshing, and packed with fiber, nutrients, and flavor. It’s naturally sweet (no added sugar is needed) with a tangy blend of juicy berries, and hint of citrus and mint. Additionally, use your choice of fruit juice, coconut water, plant milk, or vegan yogurt. With just a handful of simple ingredients, it comes together in minutes for a quick, refreshing treat for busy mornings and afternoon pick-me-ups.
The best part? It’s totally customizable! Swap out the berries based on what’s in season, or grab a mix from your freezer (I always have something in there). Unlike some versions, this smoothie is banana-free, too, so the sweet-tart berry flavors really shine. Bonus: It’s kid-approved, too, and I’m ‘berry’ excited for you to try it!
You might also enjoy other fruity smoothies like my mango blueberry smoothie, strawberry and pineapple smoothie, and/or a strawberry kale smoothie.
The Ingredients

Optionally, if you use fresh berries, add 10 ice cubes for a thicker, frosty smoothie.
What Could I Add To A Mixed Berry Smoothie?
Boost the nutrients, flavor, and filling power of this healthy mixed berry smoothie recipe to your liking with:
- Vegan protein powder: Add 1 scoop of plain, vanilla, or berry protein.
- Kale/spinach: A few handfuls add heaps of nutrients, with no flavor.
- Oats: Sprinkle in up to ¼ cup to feel full for longer with extra fiber.
- Avocado: Healthy fats, antioxidants, filling power.
- Nut Butter: 1 tbsp almond/peanut butter adds healthy fats, protein, and filling power.
- Vegan yogurt/milk: For a creamier smoothie, replace juice with plain/vanilla vegan yogurt.
- Hemp/chia/flax seed: 1tbsp for filling power and healthy Omega 3s.
- Almond or vanilla extract: Just a few drops for subtle depth of flavor.
How to Make a Vegan Berry Smoothie

Step 1: First, add all the ingredients to a blender, placing the liquids and softest ingredients closest to the blades. Then, blend until smooth and creamy. Finally, pour the frozen mixed berry smoothie into a glass, optionally garnish with a lemon slice/wedge. Enjoy!
Toni’s Recipe Tips for a Mixed Berry Smoothie
- To adjust the consistency: Use fresh vs. frozen fruit and adjust how much liquid you add to adjust the thickness and consistency.
- Taste and adjust: With juice and sweet, ripe berries, this smoothie is very sweet. Alternatively, you could reduce the amount of juice or substitute it for a less sweet liquid. Also, you can adjust the amount of lemon to adjust how sweet or tart it is.
- For the smoothest smoothie: I recommend using a high-speed blender. Also, adding the liquids/softest ingredients closest to the blades and frozen ingredients furthest away gives best results. Pause the machine as needed to scrape down the sides for even blending.

Serving Suggestions for Berry Mint Smoothie
- Granola: Like my peanut butter granola to sprinkle on top, or serve alongside.
- ‘Eggs’: Make it a hearty breakfast with eggless benedict with hollandaise or tofu scramble.
- Breakfast to-go: Keep breakfast portable with a breakfast burrito.
- Bakes: Make it a complete meal with avocado toast, blueberry peach muffins, or vegan waffles.
- Snacks: Make the smoothie as a midday (or midnight?) snack with a handful of cinnamon spice almonds, a bowl of chai spiced popcorn, a healthy apple snack with granola, no-bake peanut butter cup, or some cucumber bites.
Storage Instructions for Vegan Berry Smoothie
A frozen mixed berry smoothie is best consumed immediately. However, leftover fresh fruit smoothies will store in the fridge for up to a day. Alternatively, store in the freezer, spread flat in a Ziplock/Stasher, for up to 3 months (blend from frozen with a splash of liquid).
